FAQs

Q. Nobody in our family has ever played an instrument before, how will we know if music lessons are the right choice?

A. The first time Seamus meets a student is during a free introductory assessment. This is a half hour session entirely devoted to understanding the student's natural ability to learn the instrument, as well as give an understanding of some of the wider benefits of music lessons to the student and parents.

Q. How much practice should my child do on their instrument each day?

A. Each student is different, and each learning goal varies. Depending on the student's level and ability, daily practice may range from 15 minutes to 1-hour. It is important that the student sets a structured routine of practice, regardless of duration, to help promote advancement on their instrument.

Q. Where do I buy supplies and sheet music?

A. As long as you are a student with Seamus O'Connor Music Services, you will never need to buy books, sheet music, guitar strings, clarinet/saxophone reeds, etc... Seamus understands that your time and money is important to you, and for this reason will always include music supplies within your lesson cost.

Q. My child won't practice, what can I do to make them?

A. At Seamus O'Connor Music Services, we promote a love of music above all else. Lack of practice is common, and often can be overcome. Seamus will talk through practice regimes with the student to find out what is, and isn't, working for the child when they try to practice. Teaching your child how to practice will help them to have fun and build their love of music during practice each day.
